Independent Book Reviews: We All Scream by Andrew Gifford

May 19, 2019

A Quick Review for Busy Parents, by a Busy Parent.

Synopsis: An iconic and family-friendly ice cream and candy company in the Washington, D.C. area actually has a scary and dark backstory. Gifford is brutally honest about his upbringing and how troubled his family really was behind that sugary façade.

Genre: Nonfiction.

Hook: An almost unbelievable nonfiction story. We All Scream is equally frightening and fascinating.

Fun Fact: Not exactly fun, but I attended an event where Gifford read a chapter of We All Scream. It was incredible to hear his voice relaying parts of his insane childhood.

Full Disclosure: Not much to disclose, other than I bought a copy on the spot and had Gifford sign it!

Time of Year to Read: Anytime really, but Summer with a bowl of ice cream by your side would make it that much sweeter.

Would I Recommend This to Other Busy Parents: Yes, especially if you live in the Washington, D.C. area. Knowing the locations gives it an even more familiar touch.
