MORE THAN A MOM
More Than A Mom is lbarrybooks' newsletter.
After attending a mothers-in-business retreat, I was inspired by the time I spent with like-minded women who are also passionate business owners hoping to make a difference in the world. They are more than moms, which is what I've decided to name this newsletter - More Than a Mom.
Don't get me wrong, my kids are my world, but I know it's healthy to also have time and projects for myself. For some, it's nutrition coaching or beauty or soap making. For me, it's reading and writing. I also love a good Netflix binge, pretty jewelry, funny memes/gifs...you get the idea. And I figure, if I like something why not share it with all of you?
And even if you're a guy reading this don't worry - I'll include some "dude stuff," and at the least you can forward this or save it for some great conversation!
And yes, I'll still also include updates on my picture books because that's my passion and you are my cheerleaders, and I'm so thankful that you have my back!

One of my favorite things I get to do as an author is visit classrooms and libraries to read my books to the children. My favorite favorite part of these visits is the question and answer sessions at the end of each reading. The all-time best question I ever received was from a second grader who asked me if I ever wanted to give up since it took two years to get my first book published. What a great question! I told him that yes, there were some days where I felt like giving up, but I never did and I am SO happy that I kept going!
I've read to small groups (6 classes in a day) and large groups (over 100 students at a time). I've read onstage with a microphone and projector and I've read seated in a rocking chair with children at my feet. I've sat criss-cross applesauce in a circle on the carpet and I've helped a Girl Scout Troop earn their space badge.
I'd be happy to read at your school or event. I'm also available for Skype if you're not local to Northern Virginia. Shoot me an email and let's figure something out!
I love connecting with people! If you follow me on Instagram you'll see that I try to post pictures of my life as a mom, author, coffee consumer and nap needer. My Facebook page sometimes mirrors Instagram, but my Mom and Grandma are only on Facebook so they would like updates on there of what I'm up to :) I also loooooove me some Pinterest and try my best to use Twitter and LinkedIn. You can also check out some videos on YouTube. I'm happy to connect on any of these platforms!
